how do you solder thread?

Sorry for the diversion, I was thinking of a different kind of thread that is not wire but thread.
If this is Litz cable, it is all about skin Alex.

The OP has not told us what this cable is for. Litz cable is for transmitting signals from 500 kHz to 2 mHz.

Hello all, I'm really late to this one, and missed most of the fun.

It sounds like (Served Litz wire) it's stranded wire with a silk or nylon woven in or wrapped around the copper strands. It's mostly for added protection during pulling on install. It keeps the fine copper strands from stretching. The outer jacket will say something like (14/36 Single Silk or Nylon Served) = 14 strands of 36 AWG. Hope that helps a bit.

Sorry guys. Ive been thinking on this a while and thought you would like to know how it went.
After some head scratching I have completed my project using the crazy wire in question. In the plastic housing were four colored strands. Each strand was wrapped in its own thin plastic covering and in these were thread or fiber strands that were inside of the 8 to 12 thin wires ( thin as a hair from a mans beard ) that were coated with something. This something stuff was what kept the soldering from sticking. What finally worked was to of course strip the thin plastic covering. I then cut out the fiber, fanned out the thin wires and rubbed them across a very fine finger nail file. This rubbing did not totally remove the funky coating but it did remove enough to expose the copper coloring of the wire to finally let the soldering happen. Thanks again

I do have a picture of the stuff if anyone wants.

I think it looks odd/funny when I get the email that says - Reply to thread "how do you solder thread?" ... just seems a bit redundant. ;) :D
