i'm running sound for the musical the full monty. For those of you who aren't familiar with the production, 6 men strip down to pretty much nothing. i was sitting in my first rehearsal tonight and suddenly it hit me...how am i going to hide mic packs on naked people? i haven't run into this problem yet and was wondering if anyone else knew of possible solutions. one idea that did come to mind is to put a nylon panty hose around the belt pack so it would match the flesh tone of the actors. feedback and comments would be greatly appreciated

You could use a flesh colored Ace bandage and wrap it around their waist's...

Make them wear Chippendale style bowtie collars and strap it on the back of the collar. How big are they anyway? The mic packs, I mean.:D

There's an open cavity that comes to mind... :D

Seriously, though, I like the two ideas given above.

thanks guys for all of your posts. i hadn't thought of the bowtie idea but the packs i'm using are sony wrt 822b, so it's fairly large and could be a bit combersome to fasten to a bowtie. i'll talk to wardrobe and see if we can't figure something out though. i talked with the director of the show about hiding the mic packs in their hats but they throw their hats at the end of the number and i very well can't keep the mics inside of them. i also mentioned something about putting the mic packs or belts inside a nylon stocking or surrounding them with something flesh toned to match their skin and he didn't like the idea for whatever reason. he's hard to please. i guess there were a few production meetings that i wasn't told about and they discussed and decided without me that i would just have to hang mics over the stage and the sound quality would just have to suffer. i really don't want to do that but unless i can convince them otherwise, i think it's pretty much my only option at this point. thanks again for your posts.

Sorry ... I got nothing to add -- but just gotta say I chuckle every time I see the title of this thread... :D :p

Edit -- OK - just so this isn't a totally useless reply - I remember years ago Shure had a mic model that was a floor plate (I don't recall the model number) that looked like a flat plate with a wedge of sorts to be used for live stage performances - a possibility?
