How Come no one talks about Atlantic Technology Speakers

I have the old Atlantic Technology Speakers that I bought in 1995 (250 Series). At the time I thought they were supposed to be pretty good speakers. Now my subwoofer is blown and I am contemplating on buying another Atlantic Technology subwoofer.

Is there speaker systems still good. I have noticed no one really talks about them. Any suggestions. I was looking at the axioms and heard Definitive Technology is supposed to be really good.

Thanks

Atlantic Technology builds some excellent speakers. Their in-wall products are fantastic. Their stand alone speakers are quite good too. I have never seen them with an even mediocre review.

I would feel pretty safe buying any of their products. There may be a bit better valued subs out there but they are very well made products.

Atlantic Technology still makes great speakers. I would try out a few different subs though before going with AT. There has been some technical advancements in subwoofer technology. SVS, HSU, Velodyne ect make very solid subs. I like the AT 8200 speakers. I heard them at a friends house in Philly a few months ago. They were being run by a Acurus a250 amp pushing 250 watts x 2 at 8ohms. The soundstage was huge and the bass was very tight and controlled.I would recommend the AT speakers....:D

I can speak for the Def Techs and I think they are excellent. Have UIW BP/A surrounds in the ceiling, CLR3000 center, Prosub100 subwoofer, BP7002 towers, Procenter100 center, BP2006 towers. red are media room second system. others are in main den HT room.

I think Atlantic Technology made very good speakers in 1995; it is just that the whole speaker technology has progressed forward. The best subs are SVS or Hsu; I would buy one of them instead ofa Defintive technology sub. For timbre matching the fronts and center should be matched; usually same vendor and sam e series/size within vendor.

Good Luck!

I would say the best subs are DIY. SVS and HSU are quite good though. :D

Ditto... ;)

SVS and HSU make some great subs for the money, but dollar for dollar, DIY would yield the most for your money.

If you had money to spare though and a smaller footprint, JL Audio makes some impressive subs as well.

Don't worry about keeping the same brand for a subwoofer, there's no benefit unless you wanted to say everything's by one manufacturer, which isn't necessarily always the best choice... ;) -TD

I agree with everything that was said previously. I'm in a very agreeable mood. :)

HSU and SVS make some great value subs. Some subs that are arguably better but spendier are JL Audio, Sunfire and Thiel.

I have a Hsu I'm really happy with but if I decide I need a better sub, I'm definitely going to make it a DIY project. If you want a high end sub without the high end price tag, that's the way to go.

You may want to add Sunfire to your list of subs to consider. You can pick up some good deal on Ebay or Audiogon on some prior models. I've heard them several times and have been blown away by the thump those thinhgs put out. They move a lot of air it seems and go very deep.

HSU is very respected as others have said. I've never heard them myself, but have read enough positive things about them. I don't think you'd be making a mistake if you got one.
