Niothing to worry about, folks. DRAMA From US, China, Russia. I'm more concerned with Trump and his Staff/Cabinet, continuing their aggressiveness, towards everything here and abroad. That is my major concern.

Does anyone truly believe Russia couldn't have completely annihilated Ukraine if that was their goal? Russia wants as many Ukrainians to accept being a part of Russia, without Putin destroying everything. Until the EU stops purchasing fuel from Russia (and they're going into winter) and gets tuff, this chipping away will remain the goal of Russia.

The Russian people also play a huge part in this and fortunately it looks like they're starting to. Putin needs to be overthrown.

Russia tried and failed in Afghanistan, and ended up withdrawing... the US then stepped in, until it too gave up and withdrew.
Yes, short of using Nuclear weapons, Russia threw everything it had at Ukraine... and failed - getting stuck in an ongoing war of attrition.
The continued attacks on civilian infrastructure including civilian homes, shows that Russia has a total disregard for Ukrainians and really doesn't care about them becoming "Russians" - Look at Stalin and the Holodomor, if you want to understand Russian attitudes towards Ukrainians.

Just because a country is larger, doesn’t mean it will automatically win. Vietnam isn’t U.S. territory; nor the aforementioned Afghanistan. Plenty of examples where this isn’t true.

The European NATO countries have for decades ignored spending enough money on defence and are now confronted with reality. What a bunch of idiots.

While that is true, casting the blame anywhere else but on Russia is foolish.

FWIW, the carrier fleet was never about deterring China or Russia; nukes (you’re not killing that many servicemen and women without risking that kind of response), a fleet of subs equipped with dozens or in the case of Ohio class refits, 150+ cruise missiles, and other assorted toys like the forthcoming B21 Raider are made for them.

It’s important to point out that these types of war games are designed to be one sided and are never realistic. I’d bet the farm that the scenario was presented alongside new weapons programs and funding requests.

This is ridiculous at best. We would simply do a complete naval blockade of Chinese 1,000 miles off their coast. A knife fight close in would be messy but China isn’t sailing into blue water to meet the US Navy.

I watched a realistic scenario where China takes out a carrier and a couple destroyers. They lose a majority of their Air Force and Navy in the process.
