how big is your main HT room?

If all the dimensions are in feet, you just take (#ft wide)x(#ft long)x(#ft high). Since you're multiplying three dimensions each in feet together, the result will be in cubic feet. In your case almost 1140 cubic ft.

My living room is 12x16x8 feet, with a 10' vaulted ceiling so its 1240 cubic feet.

I got a pretty big great room... 8200 cu ft....

Ceilings go from 9ft on one side of the room to 20 ft on the other side...
Huge room to pressurize, which is also open to dining room, and upstairs, and kitchen.
Needed large Speakers with a large amp, and I thought I could get by with a single SVS Plus/2, but after adding a single Plus which really balanced out the bass quite well... I have gotten to become quite the basshead, so Im sure I'll be looking for an upgrade in a short while, which is why Im considering dual or even triple Ultra 13's...

That's similar to my room, ~8ft to 20ft. I use a single 15" sub and it does quite well in my room Was even better when I had the added oomph of the SVS Plus in there...but my Tempest is plenty for me.

Dolby CP-200, I have to cite Jurassic Park here "You spent so much time trying to figure out if you could that you didn't stop and ask if you SHOULD".... How does it sound though? Seems like extreme overkill.

I really do enjoy this website. Great pics, guys.

My main listening room is 33' x 14' x 9', open to a 18' x 4' x 16' foyer. So I'm talking around 5310 cu/ft to fill with bass. The SVS Plus/2 does well, but I may be upgrading to dual Ultra 13's if SVS allows a "trade up" plan.

I would consider your main living room for your system. You'll use it more for every type of viewing, whereas if you put it in the basement, you'll probably only dedicate it to movies. With the new LCD's, you don't have to worry about how bright a room is. My 37" is awesome with all the sunlight. Saturday afternoon sports is so much better with my LCD compared to my Toshiba 36" CRT. No glare!

You can always put a second "home theater" system in the basement, but IMO you'll get more use out of your upstairs setup. The HSU should do the trick upstairs for a much better price. You could always add a turbo if bass is lacking, which I'm sure it won't be.

My home theater area (living room) opens in to a 12x8ish dining area, stairs down to our front door and a 12x12 kitchen (all with 8' ceilings).

My trusty old Velodyne 12" sub keeps up just fine though.
