I know the Infinity Primus comes very with high praise for a budget speaker around here.

How about the EMP E5Ti at $275 a pair? They are B stock, but that isn't really a concern of mine. Neither is aesthetics.

I'm just interested in a quality pair of budget speakers for a 2 channel setup that will be augmented to 2.1 farther down the line.

I always say demo before you buy..but personally the EMPs are pretty bad ***.

Bad as in not good? What in particular is your gripe on them.

I agree that auditioning is best. But at these prices it's almost a moot point.

I'm in the same boat as you

I just ordered a pair of the emp's for $275 and I am under the impression they are A stock, just on clearance. But anyways, I will let you know how i like em, if your still looking when i get em.

Personally, I would have to go with the P362 if it were my money.

I haven't listened to the EMP E5Ti's, but the Primus are very nice. A great sound for little cash.

Pulled the trigger. Need Preamp.

Just ordered the Primus 362 pair. Found a $20 coupon code, so got them from Crutchfield for $380 with free shipping. Not too shabby.

I will drive these with a parasound 1206 bridged to 300WPC. Now I just need a good preamp to go with it.

Any suggestions for a good 2.1 preamp with remote and phono stage in the $350 to $600 range? I would like XLR for future expansion, but wouldn't have anything that uses them yet.

For budget speakers, I have always been a fan of the Primus line. Especially when you find a good sale. But those EmpTek speakers for $275?? Seems like a steal. I have not heard them but am very familiar with their parent company, RBH, and highly recommend them.

I am tempted to buy a pair of the EmpTek speakers as a gift for my brother...

The EMP's are thirstier than the Primuses. Keep in mind that you'll need a good bit more power to drive them.
