Hopefully joining the BIC bandwagon soon

I've been looking for a center and front tower speakers for a while now and finally decided to take the plunge. I ended up ordering:

BIC DV62CLR-S for the Center channel
BIC DV-84 Tower speakers for L & R

It scares the hell out of me that I only paid $379.78 (which includes shipping) for all of these speakers. I guess we'll see when they arrive. Until then, I guess I'll remain nervous that I didn't waste my money since I didn't have a chance to audition them anywhere prior to buying.

they have great specs and are well regarded by some people who post regularly here.

I'd be worried more about paying too much for the same cables that every body else sells cheaper, or worse, for cube speakers worth not very damn much at all, than I would be about what you bought.

just don't panic if they need a little break in or moving around a little before they sound the way you want them to (I completely freaked when I got new Infinities that were so tight they made my teeth hurt... after a week they loosened up and now sound great).

I doubt you could have done any better without shelling out another two or three hundred dollars. :)

Well, guess what? I just got the ones I am going to review today (DV84's). I just hooked them up to my Ref system and am ringing them out now. First impression: They dont sound like a pair of $300 loudspeakers.

BTW: The imaging of the DV84's is really, really good. That's the first thing I noticed.

This seems like a really good price, where did you order them from?
Also, as were talking BIC's, anyone consider the DV26 for rear surrounds? The 2nd angled tweeter seems it would give it somewhat of a bipole nature.

I don't like them just because if the cone tweeter.
If you are looking for good surround speakers, the DV62si', are great. As I am going through this test with all of these speakers, I have found that they sound really good.

Here is where I ordered it from. Unfortunatley, I receieved an email from them about 4 hours after I ordered it stating:
Thank you very much for your order.

We regret to inform you that nor we nor our suppliers have stock of the
product(s) you ordered. We just ran out of stock.

We have marked your order as CANCELLED, but if you are interested in
anything else, just email us. You don't have to enter your information
again.

To make it up to you, we would like to offer you a small discount of $5
on
any future purchase of any of our products.
So, I'm back the the drawing board.

If I'll be putting the rear surrounds against a wall, can a rear ported design be used? That was another reason I was looking at the DV26, it is front ported.

Are you going to hang them? Both of those are pretty big speakers. If they are going on a shelf, then simply moving them 1/2" away from the wall would be fine.

Here is my scenario. These for a new home I have under construction, I already ran the wire in wall for the rear surrounds in a 5.1 setup. I planned on (and would prefer) mounting the speakers to the wall, but I could put up shelves. I could also pick up a second set of athena AS-F1 floorstanders from BB cheap, but I don't think my wife would go for it, and it would probably be overkill.

Another option are the BIC in wall speakers. I haven't heard them but they get some good reviews. I woild go with the DV62si's I really like them, they sound great.

Thanks for all the advice. In-walls would have been nice, unfortunately, its a concrete wall. I also have a pair of athena bookshelves I was going to use in the bedroom, but since you've alleviated my concerns about rear ported bookshelves for surrounds, I think I'll use those on shelves for the surrounds, and try a pair of the DV62si's for the bedroom. They are only $124/pr at amazon. Then again, I could probably get a pair of AS-F1's at best buy for around the same price, if they are still there. Decisions, decisions.
Thanks again for the input.
