I have a HK AVR 154. Can I hook up only two floor speakers to the front outputs and not hook up any speakers to the center, surround and sub outputs?

I know this will produce stereo only. My concern is, will I damage the reciever?

Yes, you can. No, it won't hurt the receiver.

Check your manual on how to set it up so you get stereo.

Most receivers have a section of their setup menu called "Speaker Setup" where you specify what speakers you have. You can turn off the Surrounds and the Center speaker, and it will automatically process any incoming surround sound down to stereo.

As well, because you are only using two channels of amplification, you should get overall more power and perhaps cleaner power to those speakers. Good stuff!

Readily available inside of all av receivers is good old two channel operation _ some of which blows away actual two channel receivers of not long ago.
