My new system

Denon 3806 Receiver
Denon 2910 DVD
Phase Tech PC series speakers
SVS PB-12 Plus
MX 850 remote

I have a older (4yrs) Mit. Diamond 55 and it does not have hdmi or dvi connections available, but one component input (DTV). So I plan on running component from the receiver to the tv - Should I use the denon link from the DVD to the reciever? If so does it handle both audio and video, or do I also need component cables for video?

For the xbox and the satelite receiver should I use component for video and optical for audio?

I appreciate you time

I would use the Denon Link for the audio and you will still need to run component to the 3806 for video.

I would also use the component input on the satellite receiver and either the optical or coaxial for audio. Some argue coaxial is better for audio so try them both if you have them.

Well bummer, in looking into it further the 2910 does not have the Denon link:mad: Should I use the optical, their is a section for 5.1 audio out;do I need to do that using a 3806 reiever?

Yea, you would have to step up to the 3910 for LINK. As with the sat box, you could use either optical or coaxial for the dvd to the 3806 (whichever sounds better as was mentioned). The 5.1 outputs on the dvd player can be connected to the 3806 for an analog audio signal to play dvd-a or SACD's (since you can' tplay them through LINK)

since nobody has adressed the xbox yet, i would strongly suggest buying the "HD" pack & using the optical connection it gives you. Its great actually hearing all the things around you while gaming.

Looks like you've got it figured out. Component video for the DVD player and XBox, optical audio for both as well.

How do you like the sound of those Phase Tech speakers, and which ones did you end up with?

The HD hookup for the Xbox ROCKS!!! The component cables and optical audio makes the games with 480P and DD come alive. Ain't no better way to frag then big screen and surround sound.
