So our current home theater system broke a few weeks ago and we're trying to find a new one. We got to see some pretty decent Samsung and Bose ones over at Best Buy but I'm just wondering, for a budget of about $800, which one would you recommend? I'm looking for a speaker system by the way.

P.S. Even though I said $800, the cheaper the better. If there is something really good for $500, then we'd prefer that. :D

So under $800 for speakers, sub and receiver or just speakers and sub? How big is the room?
this is the cheapest system I would recommend, most likely will be better than anything you can buy for $800 from bose...

Dayton Audio SUB-1200 12" 120 Watt Powered Subwoofer 300-629

DENON AVR-1513 5.1ch Home Theater Receiver 3D ready | Accessories4less

1 of these Newegg.com - Pioneer SP-C21 Center Channel Speaker Each
2 pairs of these- Newegg.com - Pioneer SP-BS21-LR Bookshelf Loudspeakers Pair

that will put you around $400 and be a really good sounding system, if you want to you can try buying 3 centers and using them for your front 3 instead of the bookshelfs....

If you really want to spend the entire $800 and have a good sized room,
Buy 2 of them subs $220
step up to the new pioneer andrew jones speakers $400 with towers
and get that same denon $130
That will be around $750

For cheap, buy the Pioneer speaker system. Go to Best But and check them out.

How does an entire home theater system break?

And what are you classifying as a "speaker system"?

What is going to be powering this system?
