I've dealed with Onecall before. They are pretty good with price negotiation. I would make offer for $800 for the 4310CI. I would buy it brand new for $850.:D

For my $1,000, I'm not a fan of lighter weight models, especially those made in China.:D

AVR4310 vs AVR3312:

$2K retail vs $1K retail
34.8 lbs vs 26.8 lbs
130WPC vs 125WPC
Burr Brown PCM-1791 DAC (113 SNR) vs AK4358 DAC (112 SNR)
Audyssey MultEqXt vs Audyssey MultEqXt
HDMI 1.3 vs HDMI 1.4
Japan vs China (made in)
Do you really think that you could hear the DAC difference?

Lighter is better if it is more Integrated w/ higher reliability components and consuming less power off the AC line, therefore less heat out if it is more efficient (output/input).

Look at the Rr. panel of the 4310CI and it is drawing 8.1A @ 120Vac RMS, 60 Hz.
The 3311 pulls 670 Watts input power, or 670/120 = 5.58A

and the 4310CI only yields 5W more per Channel.

I would be willing to bet you driving All Channels Driven (ACD) into 8Ω on a Bench Test the 4310CI would kick the wholly crapOLa out of the 33XX series when looking at total power out for all ch. driven simultaneously, and that is where all that extra input power is going for the most part.

No ARC/Ethernet on HDMI v1.3.

I noticed the 3311/3312 have the Front Height L/R, but I did not notice any Front Wide FLW/FRW.

Now the Denon 4311 has the Front Wide:

Yes for sure on the 4311CI, but heck those are over $1500. No, the 3311/12CI have Front Wide, but AVRat is right on.

Would LOVE that 4311CI, but the other half would do me in for a long time... I know Denon is coming out with some more In-Command Models... so will wait for a little bit, and see what they are doing with them and pricing also.

But I know ONE thing I am staying with DENON ...

They're there, look again. However, I believe the 331#s will only do 7.1. The configuration being 5.1 + 2 where the 2 is either SB OR FW OR FH.
They are there as AVRat states... look closer.

HDMI Pass-Thru is on the 4310CI also.

On the 4310CI how would you get FRONT WIDES hooked up to it??

It has Surround A and Surround B, and Surround Back.

Where as the 33XX models have the WIDES and HEIGHT posts.

So assuming I want FL/FR/CC/SL/SR, and FWL and FWR, can the 4310 do it?

In other words two front towers on left and two front towers on right side?

This reminds me of the kids game I SPY.:D

I SPY those Front Wide speaker posts on the 3311 now.:D

However, I do not SPY any Front Wide or Front Height on the AVR-4310, that is not even an option.

So if you absolutely need the Wide & Height, you better get the 3312 or 4311.:D

The 4311 actually has Pre-outs to ext amps for the Front Wide and Heights, which I've never seen before.

The 3312 has the speaker posts for the Wide and Height, but no pre-outs.

I know this is like, I WANT, I WISH, and NEVER USE IT --- I know for sure, that in the Mstr. Bdrm. of this size that with Two Surrounds at 90deg. SR/SL, and Two Front Towers FL/FR, and a pretty good size Center Channel (Infinity RS Video), and One Sub... if setup correctly, leveled/eq'd out, heck what else would a fellow want ...
The 1.3 vs. 1.4 HDMI issue does not bother me at all, since ARC is only a niceity not a requirement, as I could run another cable to get from here to there if needed.

But the 4310CI is not in the "IN-Command Series"

For the 4310CI within Audyssey DSX they talk about the Front WIDES and the Front HEIGHT capability, but I do not see the WIDE OR HEIGHT binding posts on the rr. of the 4310CI.

Audyssey DSX Processing

Audyssey DSX extends 5.1-channel and 7.1-channel sound sources to a wider and higher dimension. A sound that is wider to the left and right is achieved by adding a sound source (LW/RW) that is wider than the usual placement of the front (FL/FR) speakers, and a greater sense of height in sound space is achieved by adding a sound source (LH/RH) in the upper area between the FL(FR) and LW(RW) channels.

All I see is Surround Back/Amp Assign and the second Surround B.

I am totally confused now. HELP

The Denon 991 for $700 brand new from Amazon:

The 4310 is like the 331#s which will only do 7.1. The configuration being 5.1 + 2 where the 2 is either SB OR FW OR FH. It's a simple matter of Amp Assignment for the SB terminals, see pg. 34.

So in other words, if he wants all the SUR, SB, FH, FW, he needs to get the 4311 since it has the pre-outs to all of them so he can hook up the ext amps?

The 4810/4311 are the only 9/11 channel capable models.

Looks like the DENON AVR-3312CI ... am getting a lot closer to buying, especially if the stock mkt. will GO UP MORE.

I know that and I feel those models are to much for what I need in a smaller Mstr. Bdrm. at 16x18x8'. The other half would disown me if I put in 9/11 speakers.

Also, the best they are encoding at today for Movies is 7 Ch. right?

Now what do you like better your Def Tech or Paradigm speakers?

I am running Klipsch RF-82 Ref. Series and love them, but as you know they have horns, and some do not like horns. But the Klipsch's are being driven by the Denon AVR-3311CI in the large Front Room and powered by an EMO XPA-5 which really kicked it up a few notches.

I was actually just answering ADTG's question. I knew you weren't interested in them.

7.1 correct, but for the back surrounds. Nothing for FW/FHs.

I think I like the DTs a little more than the Paradigms.

Are you running the Back Surrounds there going to 7.1?

So, you would go with the 4310CI vs. the 3312CI (Denon Recommended)?

And if so, why?

Or here is another Idea... maybe just separates, like:

"B Stock"

Emotiva UMC-1
Emotiva XPA-5

Right around $1,500 or so.

What do you think?

5.1 is as far as I'm willing to go.:D
I thought 2.0 was as far as you were willing to go? I must've misunderstood somewhere. Or I guess when you go 2.0 x 3, it's almost like a 6.0?:p

DenPureSound, yes 7.1 is as far as it gets today. Not 7ch but 8ch, since the .1 is its own ch.

I know that some people have had good luck with the Emo prepro, but some people definitely have not. If it was me, I'd get a Denon 431X, and maybe an Emo XPA3 for the front three (depending on how much I save from the 5ch version). Surrounds do not call for too much energy 99% of the time, and besides, surround speakers are almost always closer to the listener than the fronts.

Yes, I’m running 7.1 with DT in-ceilings for the rear surrounds.

I suppose it depends on the features you want.

If I had a choice between a new 3312 for $900 or a new 4310 for $900, I would still take the 4310.

In my mind, the 4310 is higher end, and probably better quality.
I pretty much concur with ADTG on this.
