well ill be moving into an appartment soon, and i had big plans for an awesome set up (Outlaw recvr, Ascend spkrs, SVS PB-12 Plus2) but really... something like that would deffinatly piss the neighbors off in an apartment...

so ive been thinking about these home theater in a box... first off all are they any good? i am looking to not spend over 1000 if i can on it....

would i be better off going for the outlaw recvr and ascend speakers and not getting a sub...?

id like your guys input... thanks

oh if it matters i really only use home theater for movies and dvd-a and some video games

Must..... control..... the..... volume

Hey Sounds good, There are a lot of HTiB's out there but you are already spoiled with what you have and you will be sitting there missing it all the while. Really your best bet (my opinion anyway) would be just to keep what you have and practice a little volume control. Afterall you will be spending more money to replace what you have and it will be worse (most likely) than what you have. I live in a condo myself and have to practice volume control all the time. Of course I do know what my neighbors drive and when they aren't home BOMBS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my two cents, I would hate to see you spend more money and be hating it after you did, it looks to me like you have built a very nice system, I say you should enjoy it...... in moderation I suppose. The guy in the Ferrari does not always drive 185 MPH does he?

SG,

What happened with your Onkyo AVR, the JVC dvd player, and Energy Take speakers? I'm assuming the wife got 'em? Sorry to hear about the move - I saw those two cute kids in an earlier photo of your room. Must be tough.

What type of apartment are you in? Is this an older building with thick plaster walls, or paper thin drywall? How big is the living room?

No i still have everything.. but ive been wanting to "upgrade" for a whille, and with the money i am going to get from the house i should be able to do everything at one time..... and as far as apartments... not sure.. i am still looking... most likely it will be a 1 bedroom 600 sq.ft place... i think one of them i am looking at the living room is 13x11

True... but ive been thinking about replacing my reciever for sometime now... its a little out dated.. eventually i am going to get a 1080i 56"+ TV so i want something with the minium of component switching, and 7.1 surround, hence the outlaw recvr...

Ooooppps

Sorry I mis-read I thought you had all of the components mentioned, my mistake. Then the whole HTiB deal is open to you, you have a lot of options to choose from good luck.

ohh no i currently have a older Onkyo tx-ds777 and the Energy Take 5.1.. i kind of want to get some towers.. well at least get away from the "cube" speakers... (not sure if Ascends are considered towers)

I would certainly want a sub for HT. The Ascends would be good along with a Hsu STF1 or 2 and a ~ $300 ish receiver. That's how I would play it.
