Hi there. I recently moved into a house that was built in 2007. It has speaker hookups as shown in the attached picture. I know it's old, but I'm wondering if there is a receiver someone would recommend for this? I'd like to be able to play FM radio and music from my phone. Thank you for your help!

It's a 5.1 speaker setup up. Were the speakers in wall or in ceiling or in room?

The speakers are in the living room ceiling and covered deck ceiling.
It would seem that there should be additional speaker hook ups for the covered patio. The image you posted was clear for a 5.1 system and if you have outdoor speakers as well, you need to know where those speakers terminate at.

I personally would consider the LCR to be in-room speakers and not in ceiling or in wall (in wall being the better choice for LCR), the surrounds are ok to be in ceiling.

You should consider what you want to achieve and come up with budget, and determine what the current in ceiling speakers are. You can get an AVR that will drive a 5.1 surround system and power two outdoor speakers, with many options available. I would first determine where the outdoor speakers terminate to and take a picture of that location, the more pics of what the old homeowner had the better.

I'm assuming the the old homeowner didn't pull the speakers out of the ceiling?

When I mentioned your goals to achieve is it simple 5.1 system with a couple of additional speakers in the covered patio or kitchen for example or do you have plans for a more elaborate surround sound system, plus additional speakers?

The more detail you can go into the more help the community can provide.

Thanks
