Oppo Digital DVD Player
I've had my OPDV917H for two weeks and will agree that its video performance is second only to the $3k+ Denon 5910. It was because of the benchmark score that I decided to get the $199 player over the difficult-to-find in stock $299 Panasonic DVD-S97. Since high definition DVD players are on the horizon, I stopped looking at the Denon 3910 or waiting for the Yamaha DVD-S2500 and decided to find a budget DVD player with similar specs to go with my Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY.

If your TV has a digital input (DVI or HDMI), I would highly recommend this player. The supplied 5' DVI cable is sufficient - no need to buy a name brand one. If the 5' cable is not long enough, you can get DVI or HDMI cables at
monoprice.com. I got my 10' DVI cable from them for $6.95 and 10' HDMI cable for $9.17.
BTW, I haven't tried DVD-A yet on this player although it does have the 5.1 channel capbility while many others at this price range provide only two channels.
