Yeah, I think that digital amps have not quite caught on yet, though, as you mentioned, one of their primary advantages is efficiency. Also, the audio/video information stays in the digital realm until it is output to the sources, something that definitely cuts down on noise. I think the major drawback is that THD is about twice as much (0.15% vs 0.07%) as comparable analog sources, though I don't know how much of that you would be able to hear in a real setting.
I do like the fact that heat issues are less of a concern and that it takes up less real-estate than other similarly powered receivers. I'll probably look at getting the 2005 anyway because I like HK products and I want something that will last me for years to come. I just wish I could find somebody with first-hand experience with it.
