So I've been having a few intermittent issues with my HK, which when it works sounds beautifully on my Sony SS-MS445 5.1 surround system.

This past week it had worked fine up until a few days ago when the HK didn't pick up my optical out that I had been using from my computer (SPDIF cable). yesterday I moved the system to another room with hopes that it might work if I disconnected and replugged in everything, but again, no sound over SPDIF (the icon doesn't PCR doesn't show up either). However when I changed the output on my computer to 96khz the unit ackknowledged that the stream had changed to 96khz. (DVD/96k). In addition when I try to use a stereo analogue cable I am only able to get sound in Surround Off mode, and even then it is only the L and R speaker, the subwoofer is silent. I'm wondering what the heck is going on here that I'm only able to get sound only on surround off mode and without the subwoofer. When I change the surround mode, I get no sound at all.

Any help here would be sooooo appreciated!!

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

I'd like to suggest that we make sure that it's not the computer causing this. With my computers, two things generally have to be set up to get the digital bitstream to be sent to the receiver. First, the sound card needs to be set to output the digital signal (this might not apply to you, but my older ones wouldn't output digital and analog at the same time). Second, make sure that the software that you are using to play the audio is set up to pass the bitstream audio.

That's the first place that I'd look, given how my friends and I have run into that issue in the past.

ya I tried changing the settings and nothing seems to work, seems to me it might be a hardware issue. lame.
