To answer the previous question. When the auto poll is on and I hit the digital select button it makes the analog setting blink, but it will not toggle it to digital.

When I turn the auto poll off, the 'digital in' will stay in the optical 1 setting, but the display on the receiver does not say 'digital' just 'optical 1'.

It looks like the HK is not receiving a digital signal at all. Are none of the indicators on the left hand side of screen turning on?

If your DVD player has a digital coax connection, it may be time to swap out the optical cable for an RCA coax and assign it to the DVD input just to see if you can get a digital signal into the HK.

Which indicators on the left hand side?

I actually thought about driving out to Best Buy after my son's Basketball game this afternoon and getting a digital coax just to check it out.

On page five of the manual, they are grouped together as number 28.

Any decent standard RCA cable will function as a coax cable.

I have a monster L/R RCA connector. Will that work for the digital coax connection? I do have the digital coax in my dvd player. Should I just plug the Red/R into the coax and then the same into HK?

On the left hand side of the receiver, when I scroll through using the surround mode button, I can get everything BUT 'digital'.

I'll try that, but with the 'digital' surround mode not even coming up as an option...who knows?

Well...I stand corrected. I don't have digital coax on our DVD player. Geez the thing is only two years old! It is a DVD recorder even. Thoughts now?

For now, I would use that RCA to connect the analog stereo output to the HK. At least then you have a usable connection while we figure out the digital aspect of this.

You said that the satellite is connected to opt2 and that is not working either?

I was just re-reading your original post. What happens when you select video2 as the source and scroll through the digital select button?

The same thing happens. It seems as there is no digital signal at all.

I would have suggested a faulty cable, except that the satellite input is not working either. I would guess that the satellite box has a coax output. That could be one way to try and establish a digital connection.

Unfortunately, I have to go now. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help, but I will continue to think of posibilities here. I hope that one of our fellow Audioholics can come up with the magic combination in the meantime.

Good luck.
