I was looking at this Harmon Kardan 3845 it is only two channels but that is all i will need for a while not big into surround sound mostly for music listening.

Looking at the back of the reciever i see a pre out and main out what is the difference?
Also if i decide to expand later by adding an amp or another receiver i can use those pre outs for that correct?

thanks

there will be a jumper connector between the preout and main in included, when you buy the 3485.

as to the difference, the pre-out sends signals out, the main in accepts the signal.

a use for this is when you want to feed a crossover'ed/eq'ed signal to your speakers, you connect the pre-outs to an external crossover/eq inputs, and then from those outputs, back to the main in.

correct.
