Hitachi develops 100G Blu-ray disc

Though it says it is not fully ready for consumer products, it is functional:

By contrast, Hitachi's new four layer disc is believed to require only a firmware update to be compatible with existing drives.

Wow, that's a lot of space. I see it has four layers. I guess we'll see TL... whatever from HD DVD pretty soon.

If there's one thing this "war" is doing, it's getting development moving quickly to keep up with the Joneses.

HD-DVD had originally said they could do 102G also, but again, not ready for the consumer yet.
