Hissing noise in Dolby PL-II mode

Hi all

I have a Denon AVR X4000 with Wharfedale diamond 200 series speakers. If I am playing anything in DSP mode Dolby PL-II, there is a loud hissing noise from all the speakers - front, back, center. The hiss is non-existent in the stereo mode and also more interestingly, the hiss goes away when I switch to a reference level offset different from 0dB in Audyssey. So, for example, there is no hiss at reference level offset 5dB, 10dB or 15dB. It is only 0dB that seems to be the problem.

Has anyone any idea of what is going on?

Thanks in anticipation
Paul

Don't have that issue with either of my Denons (or even my Onkyo) with Audyssey like that....sounds like something has gone bad. A little more information on sources/connections may help....does it happen with all?

PS You did use Audyssey to initially setup?

Hi all

As per your advice, I tried to identify if the hissing happens for all sources or for only a particular source. However, the hissing seems to have disappeared now! I tried all my sources (chromecast audio, android tv, internet radio, airplay... etc.) but couldn't reproduce the hiss. The last time I heard it was when I was playing through airplay from my Macbook pro. I hope it doesn't come back. It unsettles me though.

@lovinthehd , yes I calibrated everything with Audyssey MultEQ XT32 available on the AVR.

Cheers
Paul
