Nice job. Looks good open and closed. I probably would have done the front and just painted the back black out of laziness. Your solution is better.

Nice example of geometric abstraction;)

I really like it. Great room that you keep making better.
Someone told me that it was very Piet! I did a google and he was right. I guess my design is not that original after all.

Thanks ADK for the feedback. I was really concerned how it would turn out.

Actually, it is made up of four panels that fold out accordian style. The backs are still white and show the staples and canvas. I'm lazy too!

Once again, your entire room is amazing. Very nice touch!

Now if you really want to impress us, motorize it and control it with your remote.:p

Excellent set up there! Very impressive indeed.
Thanks croseiv. Sorry for the delayed response. I started a new job and so I have had less time to spend here on Audioholics (my favorite AV sight, by the way!)

I read some of the other posts about your installation, costs, ect, on some other sites. I don't think that many can really appreciate how difficult it is to design and execute a theater that manages to please the eye, ear and the "boss" (wife). Nicely Done.

Thanks benolium. I guess that is why I really do not care to talk about money. Just not polite, as I was brought up. I am glad that many like you can appreciate a clean installation that also pleases the other half.

Have a great holiday and I hope the coming season brings you a piece of audio\video bliss!!!!

Well, have made a few additions and some minor changes so I thought I would post some updated photos of the new equipment. I also moved the Denon 910 DVD Player upstairs in the master bedroom to accompany the new Panasonic 42" Plasma I bought for my wife (at least, that is what I tell her). This explains the almost empty spot where the Impact Acoustics HDMI switch currently sits. Also aquired a Sanus AV rack and a Klipsch RC7 to augment the system upstairs. I still need a new 5.1 receiver (my Technics is only Dolby Surround).

This was also a blatant opportunity to drag this up back to the top for those who have not had a chance to see our home theater.

Thanks Audioholics for a great site and thanks to everyone who has provided input over the years.

Hello westcott.

Congrats on the number hits you've garnered.
How has your system been treating you?

I noticed you have the Samsung BD-P1200 Bluray player. I'm sure you know that it has been one of the most maligned players on the market mainly due to playback issues and tardy firmware updates. I have the 1200, and I've had nothing success with this player. I do plan to replace it in the very near future for one that has hi-rez audio decoding capability therefore allowing me to send the decoded signal to my AVR via 5.1 analog input.

Do you have any plans for future upgrades? Not that your system is in need of an upgrade. It's a very nice one for sure.;)

Regards

My wife and I have really enjoyed the system, as have our family and friends. In fact, we have a monthly movie night and all our friends come over with their favorite DVD's and CD's. It has been well worth the expense, hard work, and research.

I have nothing but praise for the Samsung BD-P1200. The firmware uppgrades have really made the player faster and more capable of playing the latest titles. It really shines as a standard upscaling DVD player. It uses the Realta Video processor, which is argueably one of the best available at any price. Secrets of Home Theater ranks the BD-P1200 as one of the top two players. Rights behind the Denon 5900 and along with the Toshiba HDXA2.

I am so pleased with its performance, I just bought another one for the master bedroom, replacing an Oppo Digital DV 981HD. It was having problems and macroblocking was untolerable on my Panasonic Plasma in the bedroom. I got a deal on eBay for US$68.00. Obviously sold by someone who did not appreciate what they had.

As far as changes or upgrades, I still have plans to add some acoustic treatments to the room even though the entire floor is acoustically isolated. It took some selling but it has been approved. Just a matter of finding time to do it.

The new Panasonic PT AE3000 sure looks tempting and I considered upgrading the current projector but it is still kicking and still provides a stunning HD picture. I even cancelled my BR option with NetFlix when they decided to up the cost by a few dollars a month. I hope they reconsider their cost structure. Too few titles available and they seem to be in low supply making delivery much slower.

Thanks for your comments! Keep checking back, you never know what changes are in store. You can also find photos of the bedroom system featuring Vintage Altec Valencia Studio Monitor "Voice of the Theatre" speakers.
