I thought I would share the system I threw together for the wife so she could watch her "Ghost Busters" without my constant verbal interjections.

Just finished painting for the fourth of July BBQ. Curtains and a matching comforter are the finishing touches but will have to wait for the AC system to be replaced downstairs (Houston in summer).

Still have some testing for speaker and subwoofer placement but I am pleased with the results. Although the speakers are not timbre matched, they play rather well together and seem to have very similar efficiencies. I had never intended to use the Altec's for multi channel but it complements the system well. It will probably remain a 3.1 system.

Nice! Your bedroom TV is far better than my living room (read "only") TV.

Does the center channel restrict the movement of the TV on the swivel? From the picture, it looks like it might. Also, how do you like the Sanus stand? I contemplate getting that design now and again.

We really like the Panasonic performance. We got a great deal on it after thanksgiving. One of those door buster specials. It's black levels really are impressive and the contrast is just as enjoyable when properly calibrated.

You can not tell from the photo but the speaker is a good 10 inches from the display and does not interfere. My wife likes to swing it completely to one side in the mornings so she can sneak peaks from the bathroom.

The Sanus is what it is. It is economical, fitted my needs, and overall, looks very good. My minor quibble is the chessyness of the wire management "system". It is just a cheap piece of plastic that rests in two opposing groves in the back to hide the wires. If you have a lot of wires or just too much excess, you may struggle to get it on or it may not fit at all. I had to buy shorter component cables because the ones I had were too long and would not fit inside the plastic cover. I would also have made the top glass thicker. I have my TV hung on the wall because I would not trust the stand to hold the weight, even if my center channel was placed elsewhere. I have the center channel pulled all the way to the front edge to help support its weight as well as improve audio performance. The RC7 is heavy too.

I think you can safely say that the Altec's are a true full range speaker. But, to save some money and sleep better at night, I added a subwoofer to take the load off of these very old speakers and provide more power for the LFE than the low cost receiver is probably capable of delivering for a sustained period of time.

Thanks croseiv. I had the Altec's. The rest of the stuff I either got a good deal on or bought used. My wife is really happy and that is what counts.

I love the way you have the picture set up as bi-folds and it hides the projector screen. How did you go about doing this? I have an idea, but did you just take a regular picture and cut into 4 pieces? I must know before I go cutting any of my wifes paintings! Great set-up man. Cheers.

I made four frames out of MDF and used bisquet joints to assemble. I then stretched the canvas and primed it. I then painted them. Then I used piano hinges, latches, and magnets to hold the painting open and closed.

The simple contemporary design is explained by my total lack of painting experience. I figured even I could not mess up something so simple in design.

It was a lot of work and now I have a greater appreciation for artists, their hard work, and the cost of materials.

I am glad you like it. I am sure you can duplicate it. Just takes time and a few wood working tools.
