Most notably in the use of satellite TV such as DirecTV and DISH, it is common that video content lags behind the audio content. To correct this, an audio delay feature is included with many A/V receivers. I currently own a Yamaha RX-V659 which delays the audio to a maximum of 160ms.
Somethimes, 160ms is not enough. Worse, each program or movie can call for a different amount of audio delay to match audio to video.
The new Yamaha RX-V1800 has a feature called "lip synch". The V-1800 has a maximum audio delay of 240ms, and as I understand it the lip-synch feature will match the audio to video automatically. I can assume it may not be spot on perfect, but close enough is an improvement from constantly having to do this manually.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used this feature to let me know if it works as intended. Thanks.
