Hi End/Price DVD Players

Hi,

I currently have the Sony 685 Multidisc DVD changer and the Epson Powerlite 10 projector. They are connected via the component video. The picture is pretty spectacular, colors are just amazing.

I would appreciate your comments as to if I would see any significant improvement in picture quality on a higher end/priced DVD Player such as the Denon 2900 or 5900.

Thank you for your comments! :)

Yes. Neither of those units has very good quality video processing which affects how well 2:3 pulldown (turning 24fps DVDs into 30fps video output) works as well as deinterlacing for progressive scan output and a whole host of other features.

Most of the improvement is going to be seen in the way the images on the screen are defined and how they move.

Also remember that you are somewhat limited by the resolution of the projector in your case - which tops out (native) at 480p, though I'm sure it handles higher resolutions through its own internal scaling.

Wow Hawke, I think my 2900 puts out a pretty darn nice picture.

I meant the Sony 685 Multidisc DVD changer and the Epson Powerlite 10 actually.

Sorry for the confusion.
