Hi all. First time poster. I am looking for a good reciever in $500.00-600.00 range

I am going to NYC the first week in december and I will be looking for a receiver. The ones that look good to me are.

Pioneer Elite VSX-52TX
Yahama 5790 or RX-V1500
Or AVR-2805

What do you recommend?

The RXV-1500 is very good but you must audition them with speakers you intend to use as you may or may not like the sound of the Yamaha.

... you might want to check out 6th Ave Electronics, a B & M retailer, who runs many weekly non-internet specials. You might pick up a good priced on something interesting. I do all the time.

Along the same lines

I have also been looking at the Yamaha 1500. You also mentioned another model. My question is which is the better model for me. I do not need to run multiroom systems, and this system will almost entirely be used for HT.

Maybe you can get the RXV1400 for a very good price. If you're going to use it mostly for HT, this receiver sounds awsome with movies!.
