Hello there! New to all this audiophile stuff! My dad has gotten me into records and I recently got a couple things for my starting set up. Which is looking good coming together so far! I also got a few pieces from my dad!

Paradigm Speakers

So the problem I’m coming across is I need some speaker stands. Right now I’ve got them on some junky table but it could be better.. the paradigm speakers I bought are the newest on the line. There the monitor SE atom. I’m not very crafty so I doubt I could saw something up and create like that or I would.

Just am looking for some suggestions for them to stand them up that isn’t going to break my college kid bank account lol!
Here’s the dimensions Incase needed!

12.75" × 7.125 × 11"
(32cm × 18 × 27cm)
They also weigh 12 pounds but I’m not sure if that’s all together or a piece.

Thanks guys hope to hear!!

Hello and welcome!

First, the weigh is 5,4kg each (12lb). This is good to know when thinking about the sturdiness of the stands.

Since speakers are very often put in a position where the tweeter is aligned with the listener’s ear, you need to sit down in your listening position and see how high your ear is from the floor. This way you’ll know whether the height will be suitable.

Further info that is usually required here in AH forums is where do you live so that people can get a clearer picture of what is available.

There's a good deal on KEF stands at A4L given the price is right, which is another thing you'll need to tell us. It's 20% off and free shipping. There's a pair of Canton stands for less.

What TT you use? Just out of curiosity.

Thank you for responding to this. I use a turntable called Fluance High Fidelity turntable. It goes for about 250$. But I got it brand new from a garage sale for 50$. It was still in the box and everything with none of the pieces hooked up.

Also I’m sorry I didn’t know it was required for my location! New to the forums here!
I currently reside in Arkansas. I think the main problem right now is I’m coming across the issue of the plate just not being big enough for these speakers. Anything between 16-18inches would be great.

The consideration of simply making your own stands with a bit of lumber doesn't require a lot of craftiness, doesn't need to be fancy and then you can customize height and plate size easily as well. This website has either ideas for such or some choices to consider https://www.standsandmounts.com/speakerstands.aspx

Curious why a receiver plus a separate amp?

The amp inside the turntable doesn’t sound great, so when I turn on my turntable I also turn on the AMP at the same time and just turn off the one on the turntable. Just sound quality wise it sounds less staticky. Also in order for me to play music through my speakers I have to have use my reciever, my speakers are not powered speakers like where you can just turn them on and listen.

Ah, that's called a pre-amp (or phono stage) in the tt and your separate box. Older receivers usually had a built-in phono stage to use also. I thought you were referring to a separate power amp working off your receiver's pre-outs.

Fluance gives a lot and doesn't cost much, so I hear.

It really does! So far I love it. And for the bargain I got it.. was honestly hard not to pass up. And lol!! I’m still new to all these terms.

Be sure you're not doubling up on the pre-amp, too....if you're using an external phono stage/pre-amp don't use the phono input on the receiver (as you will then be running the RIAA eq twice), just use any other line input but the phono....

Audio Advisors sells some fairly inexpensive bookshelf speaker stands. I don't how much the shipping would cost though.
