I've been given 6 jbl control ones from a friend and I want to know what I should be doing with them!:D

To be a little more informative, ive got a pc with a semi-intergrated sound card ( a striker extreme ASUS Supreme-FX card ) which really kinda sucks.

The sound cards default options, are:
Stereo speakers
Stero headphones
Quadraphonic speakers
5.1 speakers
7.1 speakers

I also have a medion sub and 4 satellite speakers - my friend broke the (5th) center speaker so ive been running the system on quadraphonic with the sub enabled.

I want to replace the satellite speakers with the control ones, but I dont know wether I need a new sound card, sub or to buy a seperate amp

err ive lost track, what does anyone recommened? id like to make the change over as cheap as possible, if its any help I think the satellite speakers are the same impedance as the control ones (the satellites are 4ohms) but this doesnt get rid of the fact the output on the sub only supports 5 speakers lol

If this is already covered somewhere else I apologise for not being thorough enough in searching

HT setup.

I would recommend using the control 1's with an HT receiver. You might be able to find one cheap at a pawn shop or thrift store. With an adapter from the receiver RCA output to 1/4" jack, you could probably get your current "sub" module to work with the receiver.

Use a digital (coax or optical) connection from the sound card to the receiver. In this configuration the quality of the sound card is not an issue, the receiver does the decoding and D/A conversion.
