Well, it's only eleven days into the 2006 Atlantic hurricane season and we have our first tropical storm. And just guess where it's headed

FLORIDA!

At least it's just a small storm (for now).

Hmmmm. What could I say about that? Hmmmm.

(Lemme see...oh yeah, here it is...mostly sunny over Bend, high around 70 degrees, overnight down to low 50's, winds 1-3 knots out of the south...) (Wait, here's another...Summer steelheading has picked up on the Deschutes River, with fish to 20 lbs. being caught near the center of town...)

Uh oh...

I heard on a TV show the other day that it's not so much the material buildings are made out of as the way it's held together. The materials don't "break" apart so much as come apart at the joins. i'e, . screws instead of nails. ...lotsa screws.

Any truth to that?

If so, I hope you have lots of plywood, lots of long screws and a tourqy power screwdiver. ...and lots a good luck thay it bypasses ya or at least is as weak as a kitten.

and volcanos!

Hey, my plan is to become another transplant to the Northwest.

Hurricane center says Alberto might become a Category 1 by tonight. No problem for us in Central Florida. It's heading North through the panhandle. Just another wet, rainy week. But still, a hurricane after only two weeks into the season. :(

EDIT: Matt, I keep telling you that Florida blows. Just more proof.

Well that depends on where you live. Just don't move to Orting (in a valley right next to Mt. Rainier.

On the coast, there are tsunami's. :)

I don't have to worry about those things.

I see that you're due for 40" of rain before the blow is done. That'll stop that drought in its tracks, alrighty. Think on the bright side...it'll keep the palmetto bugs down. :p

Bah - we live in Florida. What's the worst that could happen?

:p
Well, you could be laughing at the storm ("What weasly storm?!", says Clint) when a palmetto bug comes flying/blowing in the door at 110 mph and catches you right in the teeth. Ewww.

That would be bad. ;)
