The room opens up to a dinette, and then a kitchen. The dinette opens up to a hallway, and the kitchen to a dining room. There's leaks everywhere, which is why I needed this monster.
I think the total volume is around 4000 cu ft. The lamp, nor the entertainment center vibrate. Oddly enough, the dishes in the kitchen 30' away vibrate.
There are two other spots to place the sub, both in the back of the room. The Christmas tree is in one of the spots. The other spot is a bit out of reach of my current sub cable, so I'm going to upgrade to a beefier cable with a little more length.
My biggest hang up for the longest time was the lack of colors. I almost pulled the trigger on black, but knowing how big this thing was, I opted for the wood finish and chalked it up as a nice end table. When I put it in the back of the room, the stain difference won't be as noticable. One tip I gave SVS after ordering was to introduce a warmer oak color.
Yes, the tower speakers are Polk RTi10's. The center is a CSi5, and I've got FXi3 dipoles on the walls and RTi4's up in the front near the ceiling for lack of a better place to put them. (Yamaha calls them pesence - except I use a Denon).
Well, so far, WOTW was unreal. There's definitely bass in that flick I've never heard - including the IMAX theater where I originally saw the film. I love the amp and parametric controls. The surrounds on those new Plus drivers put a lot of car audio subs to shame. My Cadence is like a little lost puppy next to this giant. The Cadence sub is actually a nice fill in sub for the mid bass frequencies. I may consider using it as a near field sub. I'll have to experiment, except for the fact that I would now have 9 total speakers in the room.
I had to laugh at the poor guy who delivered the box. He said he thought his sub was big, then he saw this box. I asked what he had. He said Bose. I said, "well - that's an expensive system!" He said "yeah, it rattles the windows in his house." He stepped into my family room and said "whoa, you're really serious about audio." I told him it was the next progression up from Bose
