I am buying the HP PL5000N (just like the 500u, but an all black bezel and easier to find). I am going with the Denon 3600 and DVD-2910. I bought Orb Audio speakers the peoples choice version and I'll see how they sound - if a no go and they sound hollow, flat, or too bright in my house, I will go for the Focal Cib/Cubs. Now I am debating which HDMI cables to buy - should I get Monster, Arista, or Blue Jeans??? Does it rally pay to spen 150.00 instead of 60.00 for a 12' cable? How about SUB cables - which ones should I go for?
Anyway, a slight change of plans, but the TV looks great overall and has good features and an outstanding warranty that is good no matter where you buy from (so online is not as risky). I even talke to HP about the TV, future warranty upgrades, issues with buying from online, etc - very helpful and inciteful. Teh 3806 will go into a competition with my old receiver (an old Onkyo) and if not a big leap in performance then I may return it an hold off for a year or two before upgrading. Teh 2910 is a keeper.
I'll hang the TV on a fixed low profile mount about 4'-5' off the ground (probably a Sanus), and I will set the Sub in a corner about 4[' to the left of the cabinet where the components will be. The L/R/CTR speakers will sit on the Chinese cabinet and the rears will be put on stands in corners of the room. If necessary I will hang them out of the ceiling.
So that is the story - any suggestions and help with how to wire it all will be much, much appreciated!!!
