The BIC Acoustechs I ordered arived and I took a few pictures of them out of the box and after there set up. Please let me know if I have done everything correctly, since im not sure if I positioned the rear speakers high enough.

ENJOY!

PS: I also compared the Acoustechs to my previous system. I compared the BOSE Module with the BIC Sub and the BIC Center with my Klipsch Synergy Center.

The rear speakers may look uneven in the picture, but I assure you that they are indeed align with one another.

First off Welcome

Welcome to the forums. I am sure you have said WOW like a hundred times already in the difference you are hearing. Congratulations on a great system. As the pictures describe you are kind of limited with placement options on your rears. Honestly the best thing to do would be to play some DVD's that are rear surround intensive and see if the rears are doing an acceptable job for you. You can always adjust their positioning (#$@%^&* drywall holes!!!!!!!!!!!) Fortunately due to the design of these particular speakers they will have a wide dispersment. You can play around with the subs placement and be amazed with the difference you will hear. There are really some great articles on this site for sub placement optimization, so check them out as well.

SO now for a couple of questions;

1. I see an accoustimass module so I am assuming you had a Bose system before, have you been actually blown away by the Bass you are now experiencing? I understand that those Bic subs are quite good.

2. How about the overall fullness of sound you are getting now as opposed to whatever you had before. I am sure night and day probably do not do the difference justice.

Anyway welcome and be sure to sit down relax and ENJOY the system, sometimes we get so caught up in adjusting and positioning and stopping the song in the middle to hear another sometimes you just need to relax and LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember when I purchased my Acoustech speakers. Right out of the box, they sounded great. Other speakers, seem to require a bit more break-in. Then, sadly, I purchased the fine Panny XR55, which was a big "no-no" in terms of matching with the Acoustech speakers. However, with my Pioneer Elite 54TX, the sound was quite good.

What made the panny a bad match?

Are the BICS bright? I am just curious because I have heard people that love this reciever and others who wouldnt pee on it if it was on fire.

Panasonic digital switching amplifiers are bright, and BICs are bright and efficient. Pioneer receivers have a warmer sound signature that evens out BIC speakers.

The B.I.C.'s are not particuarly the best for playing music. I had to frequently adjust the bass. I have not installed the 2 rear speaker yet because im having a shortage of speaker wire.

Do you guys think that using banana clips on the speaker wire help?

The BOSE cannot even compare with the BIC's. I have basically zero bass witht he BOSE. Bass with the BICS are amazing. And for 799.99, there cheaper than mose BOSE.

Oh yes, I was at Best Buy the other day and I had the oportunity of listening to the Yamaha all in 1 speaker. It was priced at 1499.99 but it was AMAZING! I would have to say that it performed better than my BICs at this time...... but I have not broken my speakers in yet so i'll still have to wait.

Would you recomend me to get banana plugs instead of just sticking the speaker wire directly into the speaker? Or is there a difference?

In terms of sound quality there is virtually no difference, but banana plugs are convenient if you plan on removing the cables frequently. I personally use locking bananas just because they are so aesthetically pleasing. If you want to do the same just buy these:

Hi All, I am new to home theatre and was wondering if I could ask some advice. I just ordered the BIC Acoustech speakers, and I am now looking for a receiver (maybe $300-$400 range). I noticed that you said a Panasonic XR55 receiver would be a bad match for these. Could you recommend a few more models that would be a GOOD match? (HDMI would be a plus also). Thanks, looking forward to your opinions :)

I would recommend starting your own thread for that topic. You may not get much help posting on another older thread.

In order to start a new thread go to the bottom of this page to the forum jump and select the amps, pre-pros, and receivers icon. Once you have a listing of the threads near the top of the page there will be another icon that says new thread. You can make your own thread using that.
