Help with wall mounting BA HD5's

Recently, due to advice from this site, I purchased BIC 62's, which I am now using for my mains. I would like to use my BA HD5's as surrounds. I need help on how to wall mount these speakers. As you can see from the attached picture, there are no mounts, holes, etc, on the back of these speakers. Do I need to drill holes, or are there mounts that I can place the speakers directly on without this procedure. My mechanical ability is mediocre at best, but with detailed instructions, I can usually manage. boston acoustics.jpg

Any idea how much these way? I can't imagine any more than 15 lbs, but if you know, this may help in determining some brackets that you can use... -TD

Another option to consider, instead of drilling holes in the cabinets and fighting with brackets, is to set them on shelves. You can usually find them with hardware included. You would just have to set them at the right height behind your listening posistion. Speaker stands are another option, but will probably more expensive.

Tomd51, it appears both of your suggested options would require drilling some holes into these speakers. If so, how would I best go about doing that? Also, if you follow your 2nd link, there is another mount near the bottom that is like a platform speaker mount. It is kind of like a shelf. What do you think of that option?

I thought about shelves, and may go with that option.

I currently have stands, and am purposefully taking them out of the equation. I have two little ones who consitently bump into them, ocasionally knocking the speakers off. The mounts or shelves will be high enough to eliminate the dangers of kids on sugar.

BTW, the dimensions of these speakers are: 9 3/4"H x 6 1/4"W x 7 1/4"D, and as stated before each Speaker Weighs 6 1/2 Lbs.

Typically smaller speaker mounting brackets like these will require very little (if any) drilling. If required, any cordless/corded drill can be used. Each bracket mount varies, but many will have a short, thick screw that will be either drilled or screwed into the back or bottom of the speaker about an 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Most decent speaker cabinets can facilitate this without a problem.

That would work very similar to a small shelf, however you'd still have to secure the speaker on the bracket/shelf somehow. If you look at the larger image, you'll see mounting drill holes on the bottom. I suppose if you didn't want to drill into the speaker cabinet, you could use something like double-sided tape or some other method of securing them to the bracket/shelf.

The mounts or shelves will be high enough to eliminate the dangers of kids on sugar.
Now that's good thinkin'! :D
