Help with TV/AVR connection issues

When I connect the TV via HDMI directly to the Cable Box I the signal comes through fine. When I tried to include my Yamaha RX-V663 in the mix by HDMI out to the TV, HMDI from Cable Box to the Receiver and BRP to receiver, the signal does not pass through the receiver and I get no picture. I have triple-checked the connections and still nothing.

I have read the manuals again and again and still a problem...

Any help would be appreciated

The usual suspect is the lack of HDCP repeaters in your cable box. Many cable boxes are old and refurbished to boot.

My advice is simply to run the HDMI directly to TV. You lost nothing, outside of the tiniest bit of convenience of having to hit one more button on the remote.

OTOH, you may gain more flexibility in video calibration per source input.

Buy an optical cable for a few bucks from Monoprice, and use that for the audio portion.

Now, you can even just listen to TV speakers if you ever so desired, not that this is a huge boon, but thought I'd mention it.

Or, if this really drives you mad, you can contact your cable company, and insist on a newer model of cable box. You can also search the HDTV area of AVS for local users/companies by zip code in the search. However, I'd also admit that dealing with certain cable companies could be the greater pain in the *** than hitting that one button on the remote.

Hope this helps,
