Help with speaker choice...

I have a 6-channel Panasonic reciever (SA-HE100K), but I've only been using a 5.1 setup because I didn't really have room to add the rear speaker. I'm now in a new apartment were we have MUCH more room, and I want to add the rear surround speaker for the 6.1 setup. My question is this:

How important is it that the rear surround speaker I choose be the same model / brand as my other speakers? Right now I have all Pioneer speakers: two S-H253B-K mains, a S-CR400-K center, and two S-CR400-K surround speakers...not outstanding speakers to some, but they do the job

So do I need to get another S-CR400-K as a rear speaker, or does it really matter?

Speaker setup

It is critical that there be a good tonal match between the fronts and the center channel where the majority of the action and dialog occur. It is not as critical for the surround and surround back channels.

If you are considering a speaker upgrade, spring for a new pair of main and possible a center and move one of the fronts to the rear surround channel. You might also find your current speakers less adequate in a larger room. The $200 / pair Onix X-LS speakers from AV123.com might be a good option.

Otherwise pick up an inexpensive speaker that looks similar to your others. There are not a lot of DVDs that will take advantage of the rear channel.
