Hi,
I've just unboxed my new receiver and set it up with my sub and two fronts. I don't have any other speakers yet. But I'm not getting any sound through the sub when i play dvd's, although it is present, but weak, when i play my ipod through the CD-r input.
I set up using YPAO, and the test tone came through all speakers clearly. My queries really are:
1. Even though I'm only 2.1, can I still send a sound signal via co-axial, and have the receiver downmix it? I've not managed to get any sound via the co-axial alone, so have fed a 2-channel signal for the dvd instead. This is fine, but doesn't reach the sub.
2. If the receiver won't downmix, why can't I still get it to send bass to the sub when using a 2-channel feed from my DVD player?
I'm sure I'm being really stupid, but I have had a (reasonably) good look through the manual. I've set bass out to the sub in manual set-up, and front speakers to small. If I can't work it out soon, I'm going to lose patience, and just rewire the sub between the amp and fronts. I know it's a lazy bodge, but I'm on my third week of stopping smoking, and I want satisfaction from SOMETHING in my miserable $*&*!" life! And I want it NOW. Or someone's going to get hurt.
On the smoking note, they say withdrawal is very similar to PMT. Funny, that.
Anyway, if someone kind can point out where I'm going wrong, or what I'm missing, I would be very grateful.
David
