Help with Processor Choice

Hey gang,

I researched the forum when choosing a sub recently and I thought I would ask your input on choosing a processor. After recieving my new sub I found that my Rotel 1068 is messed up. I have sent it out for repair but I am concerned about Rotel. My luck has not been very good as my 1050 DVD player has already went back and was rebuilt! I love the sound of the Rotel stuff but I am having too many failures.

Here is what I have:

Rotel 1075 amp
Rotel 1068 Pro
Rotel 1050 dvd
B & W 600 series tower fronts
B & W rears
SVS- PB-12 plus
Monster HTS 3500

I am looking to replace the Processor and sell the 1068 when it comes back. Hdmi is not a priority but could come into play.

Do you have any recommendations?

I use the system for 60% HT and 40% music.

Here are some I have looked at:

Sunfire
Outlaw (get by on the cheap)
Anthem
used Krell
Aragon

Come on, help a guy out with your thought!

Thanks,
Jon

I don't think you have supplied enough information. However, if it was me, I would definitely get HDMI if this is used for HT, since I watch 100% hi def, and it would provide me easy access and flexibility with the lossless codecs.

I would lean towards Outlaw for more affordable pricing, and I would be very interested in the Trinnov RC which can be disabled above 300hz at the consumer's wish.

Otherwise, I'd look at Anthem at a much higher price point, and I think the VP is supposed to be pretty decent. I have no idea what kind of RC it supports.

Regarding the Outlaw, I'd wait on initial consumer reports, however. I'll expect some headaches, but it's the size of the headaches that I would be curious about. Even Anthem folks had ANACIN sized heacahes IIRC at first.

How big is your budget? If willing to let go of $5-7k, I'd start thinking about the Denon AVP. :D

There's always the Integra DHC-9.9. My first 9.8 was replaced under warranty but if I were shopping today, I would still be looking to get the Integra or Onkyo Pro.
