Hello All

At the end of last year and begining of this year, the extensive knowledge and help from forum participants helped me decide on the lovely Denon 3805 Reciever. I can honestly say that I am very happy with this product and enjoy every minute infront of my new home theatre system.

I have a DVD player, but it unfortunately does not play CD's (Older model, but have no need to replace it.) I was looking at the Denon DCM-380 CD Player (And More) to compliment my home setup. It plays MP3's which makes me happy and if I am not wrong, I have the option of using denon Link with the reciever. Other than that there were some neat features, but ultimately I am interested in clarity and performance. I would like to hear the pros and cons on this receiver.

Thanks in advance for all your help. I have used the search and did not turn up much on this subject. Any advice or input would be a great help.

Thanks...

I have a DCM-380 and it's pretty nice. I think it has the Denon link, but I'm not sure (haven't needed it). It does play MP3's just fine, although using VBR will sometimes make the readout go wonky (although the sound is just fine). One odd quirk, though- it will only pass MP3 thru the analog outputs. For some weird reason it won't send the bitstream thru the digital out. Bizarre.

Honestly, I use my DVD-2200 almost all the time now. So much so in fact that the changer hardly gets used at all.

I just purchased a 380 to replace a troublesome Onkyo Cd player. I'm happy with it so far, actually I think it has a better sound than the Onkyo. I read somewhere that the MP3 not playing through the digital out has something to do with copywrite infringement and we certainly don't want to have illegal Mp3's around ;). I stream my mp3's from my hardrives anyway, so this wasn't a factor for me.
I also have the 2200 for DVD, but I'm way too lazy to get up and change CD's after everyone, so I don't use it for CD's. As far as Denonlink, I don't believe this unit has it. Not a big deal to me
I'd recommend the 380
