Hi, I am setting up a HT and I have the hardware listed below. I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on different ways to run things or certain hardware that could make my system preform better. My reciever does not upscale HDMI content but my bluray player does, so that may be ok.. Right?? This is my first HT experience so I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Pioneer Elite sc-07 - Reciever
Denon DVD3800BDCI - Blu-Ray
Samsung LN52B750 - TV
Def Tech BP7001SC - Towers
Def Tech CLR3000 - Center
Def Tech BPVX - Surrounds

If your receiver has HDMI & decodes all the latest surround modes then you’re good to go as is. Is there a source other than the BD player that you want to upscale?

You already have some great gear. Here is what I can think of...

1) Don't see a sub listed. Even thought the SCs have inbuilt subs, you need one for movies. Also, adding a third sub will help get better low end response.
2) Room treatment. This is the most under appreciated upgrade ever, until you get it and realise that you should have gotten it a few electronics/ speaker upgrades ago.
3) Room curve correction via Behringer BDF 1124 or DCX 2496 + Audio calibration software. Download Room Eq Wizard from HT Shack and then go nuts.
4) Video calibration by ISF certified tech
5) 1080 native projector if possible

Before I got my receiver, I let the 3800BDCI do all the video upscaling and audio decoding 100% of the time. In fact, I didn't even use a pre-pro. I just connected the 3800BDCI directly to my Denon integrated amps.

So yeah, it's perfectly okay to let the 3800BD do all the upscaling.

It has the HQV Realta video chip, which is the same one in the $7500 Denon AVP-1 & $5500 5308CI.

It also has the same audio DACs as the AVP-1 & 5308CI (PCM-1796).
