Help With Home Surround

Hi,

I have recently purchased an home theatre system and I have been trying to wire it into my TV. I can wire in the DVD to the TV using Video RCA IN cable but the sound is not SURROUND quality. And for some reason the Centre and the L/R surround speakers dont seem to work. But they seem to work when its in the radio mode. And from the setup It doesn't seem to recognise the centre and L/R surround speakers. And also I am perplexed as to how the normal TV signal would output from the TV to the surround input. becasue my TV doesn't seem to have a Audio RCA out, but has llthese other yp/pb/cb RCA holes. I am VERY confused... Am I doing anything wrong?

the pb/cb/yb holes are for an improved picture from your DVD player. check the DVD instruction manual. if it says that the player is a "Progressive Scan", it means you can use three cables to send the picture to the TV instead of just one. this gives you a much clearer picture, even with a DVD player. if you have a Progressive Scan DVD player, there will be three matching holes on the DVD player. The pb/cb/yb connections are strictly for picture... They do not do anything for your sound.

If the receiver is multi-room capable be sure that you have the correct zone selected for your speakers. It's really easy to drive yourself crazy when you have the receiver set to Zone 2.

Hey mate..its a cheapo AWA surround system... it has 2 ch audio in n 2 ch audio out...

I just cant figure out why the radio works with all speakers in 6 Ch mode but the DVD wont work... ? how do I wire up the TV reception? My TV doesn't seem to have a Audio Out..?

Hey mate, if you don't give us a model number, we can't do any research that might help you. Those of us who don't have a cheapo sound system might not be able to picture one off the top of our heads... Do you want help or do you just want to whine ?

Are you also using the TV speakers for the front channels? Or, you have 5 external speakers for the Dolby surround sound?
