Help with HK AVR 635

Hello all!

I'm rather new to the home audio/video arena so please keep that in mind when reading this  I appreciate any help you could provide.

I purchased an AVR 635 about a month ago and am fairly happy with the receiver. I have however experienced the following...

When listening to a CD in Logic 7, it seem like the center channel is cutting in and out when listening (ear almost on the speakers). It's hard to explain: it's not like an on/off on/off situation, it's much more subtle. Does this sound normal? If not, what could the problem be?

Also, when watching a DVD, I was flipping through the dolby sound options, and when I get to 5 channel wide, very loud buzzing will emanate from all speakers. What's up with this, and could this cause damage to my speakers?

Thanks very much in advance for any input!

Welcome to the forum. That doesn't sound normal. I'd give HK a call tomorrow. They are very helpful, and direct you quicker than we can.

Thanks for the reply... Called HK before I posted to the forum, and they were not that much help. Their number one tip was to take a trip to circuit city to see if I could reproduce the problem with a floor model. #2 was to reset the receiver, #3 was to take it in for repair.

I agree with HK support.

Outside of a reset and checking cables and inputs, your only option is bringing it in the shop for repairs. Odds are it's under warranty and if you bought it from an authorized dealer, you should have no problem.

I had to take my AVR7300 in a few weeks ago because there was a screw loose in the transformer, literally. Probably jarred free during shipping. Was causing humming and a pop from my speakers.

Hope you're able to solve it!

could be a bad cd too. is it a bought cd or one you made. sometimes all the channel

are not coded in the cd. same with the dvd. then the speakers will cut out.
