hey guys, my first post!
Well I just got this nice audio system, and decided I wanted a woofer with it, so I took the sub from my car (powered through speaker cables) and attempted to hook it up.
Well, on the back of my reciever, theres no post to connect the sub into, i tried "Center" but it ended up sounding like a normal speaker, I think due to auto Mcacc. I then attempted to connect via interconnector, but noone sells those around here.
I really want to get this to work, any help would be MUCH appreciated

My reciver is Pioneer VSX-74TXVi and my sub is a Fosgate audiophile punch series

Thanks

You're missing one tiny part.

An amplifier. The sub out of your receiver needs to be fed to an amplifier before it will drive a subwoofer

Two things to remember here.

Make sure it's a big 'un and it's designed for home use.

Car amps work off of 12 volts and a converter to get 'em to work well at home is ridiculously expensive.

But, remember, that sub in that enclousure was designed to work in a little bitty car interior. It mioght not work as well in a home environment where there is a lot more space.

Here's some suggestions, guaranteed to work

Oops! This site won't allow links here. Go to the home page for parts express (no space), search for "subwoofer amplifiers", and check out that page

But, remember, before dropping too much money into this project, that sub and enclosure were designed to work well in a little bitty car interior. It mmost likely won't work as well in a home environment where there is a lot more space.

FWIW, you can get a good powered sub for around $150 and "decent" ones for a little less. check out the lower part of this page.
