Hello

I got a very helpful link from Ray on the Denon DVD 2910 firmware upgrade. I did check my unit and it is indeed an older version. I went to this link:

http://oldusa.denon.com/support/upgrades.asp

and I downloaded the attachment..was a pdf and a .cfw file. It says to burn it to a CD-R, but first go in and check ISSO 9660 settings?? I can't see these in Nero. Can anybody help me who has done this and possibly give me easier instructions?

The last thing I want to do is make this unit inoperable!! Can I really screw this up??

Thanks very much

JC.

Don’t worry about it just burn the cfw file as a data file in Nero and you will be ok. Make sure only the cfw file is on the disk then follow the instructions
In order don’t deviate from the instructions if the player loads the disk then goes into erase mode you are ok Did you get the current build date?

Thanks for the response Ray,

DNV 030825
System 6768-2
DSP 6770
ESS 6720-4
Make Day 831

I don't use HDMI by the way...not yet anyways. Apparantly this upgrade is also for programming more than 10 tracks on a CD.

Downloaded and Upgraded my 2910 over the w/e, WOW - DVI is now absolutely stunning
Some of the things I've found are better black levels, much brighter, more detail, better colour saturation. Component - reduced overscan and much better colour saturation

Create a directory for the files
Right Click over the link, use the "Save Target as..." option and save into the directory you created above
Unzip the .zip file and put all the files into the same directory, there are 2 - 2910firmware.pdf & d21zsavd.cfw
Follow the instructions in the .pdf for burning to CD (CD-R & CD-RW can be used)
Upgrade (you don't need to connect any display device, all messages are shown on the units display)
You don't have to Initialize the unit back to Factory Default settings either
Enjoy

ozdvduser:

is this a different upgrade than the one I just installed? When you say "my" upgrade is this something you made? According to Denon's website, it says to only use the update on their website only for US models. Will this update you have work with a US model without screwing it up??

I am not using HDMI as yet. Component.

BTW Ray, it worked, thank you for all your help!!

No, it's not "my" own version - the firmware is 6720-A MultiRegion (MR), i.e.region free.

Yes, it's the same EXCEPT the 6720-A MR is Multi Region - allows you to plays dvd's from ANY Region code, not restricted to Canada (which I think is Region 1)

Ess:6720-c ???

I bought 2910 one month ago from Denon dealer on Ebay. The firmware is ESS:6720-C . Is it the latest one? Is it multi-region supported? I know ESS:6720-A is multi-region, but mine is ESS:6720-C, so not sure that should I backworth upgrade to ESS:6720-A?
Any advice on this? Thanks

Other question, I use HDMI cable to hook up with my HD Samsung DLP, the picture does not look greater than when using component calbe... What it could be?

Thanks
Alpharetta
