My friend just purchased a new dennon 2307 and he asked me to help him set it up... I have most everything working fine but I cannot get a picture from the dvd player. Sound is fine but no pic and all the cables are set up as they show in the manual... I have read the manual and I see not help. This unit also allow all feeds to be upswitched to hdmi and I cannot figure out how to make it happen... If any one could help that would be great... Thank in advance!!!!

We don't have the manual.

What outputs are you using on the DVD? (color of jacks if applicaple)

What inputs are you using on the Denon? (same as above?

What type of interconnect/interconnects are you using?

That'sa prety complesx recceiver. Are you sure the video cable/cables is/are plugged into the corrosponding audio inputs?

Do you have to assign inputs? Check the manual on this.

I have the audio connectors hooked up to the dvd audio and the component videos hooked up in the component 2 setting. The tv is hooked into component 1 setting.

The TV should be hooked to "monitor out". on the receiver (If I understand your setup correctly)

Maybe the dvd player is set to progressive scan, and the tv isn't?
Or vice versa?

That didn't really make too much sense. If you can't bother to communicate in complete sentences that make sense, why should we bother to decipher them?

my appologized for sentence fragments.

The monitor out port is plugged into the back of the television.

The dvd player does not have an option for me to set it up in progressive scan, just the outputs on the back that are plugged into the reciever.

it is set up exactly like page 20 on the manual. I appologized for the whole manual but I could not cut and paste the page that I wanted to.

Thanks for posting the manual. The whole manual is preferred to snippets. The answers are not always what and where you might think.

1) What type interconnect are you using from the DVD to the Denon? Yellow composite RCA cable, HDMI, or "S" video cable?

2) What type interconnect are you using from the Denon to the Television? Yellow composite RCA cable, HDMI, or "S" video cable?

3) Does the Denon setup menu appear on the TV?

If the answers for #1 and #2 are different, and the answer to #3 is "Yes" , I would think it's an upconversion (or lack thereof) issue.

You might want to look more carefully at the chart on page 16 of your manual. Depending on the interconnect types used, not everything that goes into the Denon comes out of the monitor.

Can you get the DVD to play when connected directly to the TV set with the same cable you use to connect it to the Denon?

The interconnects from the dvd are component connections GBR.

The interconnects from the cable box are also component connections GBR.

The dvd player works fine when hooked up directly to the tv.

The onscreen menu also comes up on the monitor when I access it.

The hdmi cord is hooked up from the hdmi out to the hdmi in on the monitor.

Also there is an component output ran from the denon to the monitor.

Have to you selected the correct input source in the receiver's setup menu? Try going to the Video Setup menu, select Component In Assignment, and make sure that the input source for DVD is the same component in # that you plugged the dvd player into (Component 1, Component 2 or Component 3).

Also, recheck the same on your player. You may have to select the component output for your player to send the signal via it.

Is that the dvd players onscreen menu, or the receivers onscreen menu?

If it's the players menu, then the player is the problem. If it's the Recievers menu, then you have selected the correct output for the reciever. As in my other post, make sure you have the correct input selected.

good luck
