I'm looking for an entry level 5.1 system. I need in cieling/wall for the rear. The room is 20x14 and will be used mainly for home theater.

I was given the following recommendation which a little above my price range.
Definitive Promon 800 L/R front
Definitive Promon 1000 center
Definitive DI 4.5R L/R rear
Definitive Prosub 1000

I don't have a receiver yet and will be needing help with that choice next. But I am told pick speakers first.

Thank you for your help

Bon, before you jump on the DTs, how much are you looking to spend on the whole shebang, speaker/sub/receiver? I like the DTs, but that sub is overpriced for its capabilities. I think SVS SBS/SCSs up front and a PB10-NSD sub will provide a more visceral HT experience. These could easily be powered by a Denon 790/1910. For the surrounds, a pair of Aperion Intimus 6-ICs should do nicely.

Ok, saw your other thread, $1200/speakers and 6" height for the center, so the SVSs may be out. The center limitation is going to kill a lot of options.

I think if it were me, I'd do the best I can for 3.1 right now and wire for surrounds, then add them later. The DT's center fits the bill and performs well.

I agree the Prosub 1000 is almost the same as the PS800 (which I am using strictly as a center channel sub crossed at 40Hz, the PS1000 can only acheive decent bass to 36Hz, the SVS PB10 for the same amount is good down to 22Hz and is much stronger.
