Hello its been forever since iv been on this forum but i went from building computers to home theaters. So i sold everything and this is what i picked out. I was hoping to get some insight and recommendations for everything.

So for speakers my budget is prolly $2,000 that includes a center 2 fronts 2 rears and a receiver. (will buy a new subwoofer later on)

So for a receiver i was looking at the denon 1712.
Speakers i liked are
Klipsch c20
Klipsch f20s
Klipschs s10s.

Subwoofer-emotive or hsu...

While i would love to get paridgms or b&w speakers i just dont have enough money to afford it.

I will connect a ps3 a htpc and my cable box all via hdmi to the denon. I listen to music a lot and watch a lot of movies (action!!!!!) so was looking for some advice as this is my first time.

My room setup sucks! It is prolly the worst room for theater but its not my house so i cant rebuild or sound proof (which i would like to do lol) but its prolly well i measured it its about 12.6' by 11.10'. And the ceiling is a angle so its really tall and then goes down to like 4'.

So thank you guys for the help.

For that size room, you can get by with bookshelf speakers. It is
possible that the towers can overwhelm you, in that room.

It would have been way worse if you had a 7-10' flat ceiling.

That room is way too small to have the proper surround speaker placement. I would recommend that you try with only a front+center configuration before getting the surrounds. Having heard the EMP bookshelf speakers, I'd recomment 3 of them for the front for starters. Add 2 more only if you feel the need.

The tower vs bookshelf speaker consideration is also a valid one. That said, the EMP 55 Tower is on the smaller side and can be considered.

Ya the room is pretty small just looking for some good sound in the room and I was wondering if i even needed floorstanding speakers. I just like to watch movies and hear the sound all around me like bullets flying everywhere. So I guess I look for some bookshelfs Ill go check all of them out.

What are some good speaker stands? thats why i wanted floor standing for the fronts cuz i dont have anything to put the speakers on..

I also thought about lowering my budget to because I dont really think I need that much money in speakers for such a small room I dont want a HTIB but do I need 2000 in audio? Been thinking about like polk audio or something but ill check out more stuff like what you guys linked and find smaller stuff.

I'd say towers might overwhelm in that room.
Some speakers to look into -
Infinity Primus offers great bang for the buck : http://www.harmanaudio.com/Search_Browse/default.asp?brand=INF&status=C&market=HOM

Ascend Acoustics is another : http://www.ascendacoustics.com/

PSB Image B6
Monitor Audio Bronze
NHT

Polk's Ebay store has good deals; these may require some power - http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAIR-LSi7-CHERRY-Bookshelf-Speakers-Polk-Audio-40-OFF-/360372072585?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item53e7d97089#ht_5624wt_1163

People think highly of the Berhinger Truth 2030P as well. WAF is important for me so I've never looked twice at them but they might work great for you.

Maybe Atlantic Technology B-Stock. I don't think their subs stack up against the likes of SVS but they might work for your needs. I've thought about these before -

How come no one has said paridigms? Sorry for spelling

I was thinking either there studios or the monitors...

Like a 490 center and 10s for the front left and right and some monitors rears...

Also for a subwoofer i was thinking a emotive sub...

~$1400 doesn't get you a whole lot from Paradigm when you're buying 5 speakers IMO.

Check these out; Aperion Verus Grand

http://www.hometheater.com/content/aperion-verus-grand-speaker-system

The Verus Grand Tower’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +0.59/–2.21 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 43 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 34 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.38 ohms at 102 Hz and a phase angle of –45.25 degrees at 69 Hz. Towers are the top trace.

or the PSB Image Suite of speakers;

http://www.hometheater.com/content/psb-image-t6-speaker-system

The Image T6’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.88/–1.74 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 48 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 41 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.92 ohms at 413 Hz and a phase angle of –59.85 degrees at 69 Hz. Towers are the top trace.

The Versus Grand towers are $899 each, I think that breaks the budget. Bookshelves are $299 each, the center $699, which brings you to $1300 for the front 3. This leaves $700 of the 2k budget for receiver, surrounds, and maybe sub(s)? Not sure if that's a good allocation of resources.....

I think you'd have to mix in the forte models ( $175 each satellite and $350 center) to come in under budget. The satellites have a sensitivity of 85db which is getting a little low. Haven't heard them so I can't comment on how they stack up vs. the Versus Grands.

I apologize for my typo, I meant to say EMP 5 Tower. The smaller of the two.

I have heard this one, very very good value for money and not too big for the space.

I do agree with agarwalro and zieglj01. The size of that room is identical to mine but it also depends on exactly how far the op is going to sit from the speakers - which will help us know the point of convergence for proper speaker placement. How about Adam's Compact Mk3 Active Version for the fronts. Compact per say, but they feature a 7" woofer and it should be fantastic. Or there is the Adam's A7X Active Monitors . They are priced at $699 per speaker a bit on expensive side though.

agarwalro you are going active (as mentioned in your signature)? So am I - I am going to pm you about that.

Thank you for all the suggestions but i think that i am sold on paradigms i went and heard klipsch but then they had paradigms and i had to have them play some studio 20s and i have never heard such good clear sound in my hole life. I was so impressed that I decided that I had to have them so i decided to go with them.

So my plan is
CC 490
Studio 20s
Studio 10s
Paraidgm subwoofer with there PBX thing.
Denon 1712 to power them

Would that be pretty good?

It'll be a step up from the Klispches, but It won't be very good. Here is the frequency response of the studio 20s:

You can do better with a lot of the stuff that's been recommended to you in this thread.
