Help with a wiring problem

I am considering buying the Logitech Z-5500 speakers. However, they are designed to be compatable with pc's and cd players. Say I wanted to cut off the banana jack and have the wires bare so I could plug them into a receiver; would it be possible?

If so, what am I looking at?

here is the problem worded differently.

Is there a way to change the jack plug to just a normal speaker wire to plug into a receiver with the black and red wire imputs?

It's possible. Dunno if the results would be desirable.

It's physically possible to cut the connectors off the wires and plug the speakers into a traditional receiver, yes. They're just speakers.

However, there's no telling what the frequency response of the speakers is, whether the built-in amplifier does any equalization to make them sound less crappy, whether the receiver will blow them, or even what their impedence is.
