Hey guys I would like some advice on how to proceed with a 3.1 setup in my bedroom

Would like to replace the 100 inch careen with an AT screen and go with in walls behind have no desire to replace the 1080p projector don't need 4k in the bedroom Lol

Own these ci-elite-e80-iw (1).png
The Elite CI-E80IW
Considering these

Monoprice THX-365IW

My head will be 13 feet back in the bed.

Would like good dynamics and low volume performance at 13 feet distance combined with a sub will the Paradigm be sufficient or should I spring for the Monoprice

Here's a link to a thread on AVS I started for this topic so you guys can see pictures of the room

My files are too large to upload here from my phone

Any advice on avr pre pro subs screen would be appreciated. I'm not looking fir perfect sound or visuals room treatments will be minimal just need good dynamics and sound to sound good

Please ask for any additional info

Thank you for your time

First - I would get that projector off that mount setup. I would either put it on a shelf at the rear of the room or up tighter against the ceiling. It looks like it may be on a decent mount, but it looks like the projector is pointed upwards, which is very bad. It looks like one of the better Epson models, with lens shift, so it shouldn't be tilted at all. It should be level, and lens shift should align it to the screen. I could be wrong on this, but a make/model for the projector matters. Likewise, the type of projector mount matters. That can really be cleaned up quite a bit.

As for speakers, I think it is almost a wash. The Monoprice speakers are very nice, but you aren't coming from bad speakers to really nice speakers, you would be going from really nice speakers, to other really nice speakers which are just different. As long as the sound bleeding out of the back of these speakers isn't bugging the rest of the house all the time, then I would stick with the Paradigms. I think a actual change would be to a speaker with a decent back box, like a Triad in-wall speaker. Still, I would be hard pressed to go that route unless I was really unhappy with the sound of the Paradigms.

I would focus on getting a good subwoofer, and I would create a budget and ask for specific models. SVS is always a good way to go and is a brand I've used a number of times on various installations I've worked on. The audio from a good sub can permeate an entire home, so be aware of that.

For a screen, the Silver Ticket WAB series is quite solid and well reviewed. It works great with 1080p models, as well as 4K projectors.

The price is right on the screen and the quality won't be bested until you move up to something like a Stewart screen, and that may not be a 'huge' jump for the money spent.

For a receiver, I would just stick with a Denon or a Yamaha model. They are solid and do a reasonable job with the audio. You do get more power with them as you spend more money. There isn't a model from them, that I'm aware of, which would be considered to be of 'bad' quality. On a nice mid-level system, a AVR from those companies will do about any consumer just fine.

Hey thanks for the great advice the model # is the Epson G6450WU

An older model just does 1080p but that's all I need for the bedroom and like you said it has the necessary lens shift a guy here has a store where he builds and sells refurbished projectors and I got this one for a very very good deal. Just $1000 for the projector and the screen combined.

I don't know if I have room to put it on a shelf over my bed and the ceiling fan keeps it from being to tight up on the ceiling but I can at least get it straightened out

That screen sounds perfect I'll go with the Silver Ticket.

And I do like the paradigms so I'll save money and use that towards a good sub.

Denon Marantz or Yamaha will be my go to reciever I'll just pick the one with the best features I need

Thanks for the help your advice gives me a good idea on how I want to move forward

My biggest concern with the projector is that it is a business class projector. It is super bright, but has terrible black levels.

This is just something to be aware of. The Epson 5040UB, for example, was selling directly from Epson for about $1,400 this past year and would completely blow away the commercial model in terms of black level performance.

But, if you are happy with it and don't mind the very 'grey' blacks that this projector delivers, then there is no issue at all. It is also just something to be aware of if you ever do look to upgrade. You sacrifice brightness for black levels, shadow detail, motion handling, and brightness. But, the contrast remains the king specification. A refurb Epson 4010 would look amazing when the room is completely dark. But, it is definitely half as bright.

On a small screen, you have a ton of brightness which really isn't needed for such a screen size. You may want to consider going larger if your wall supports it. No less than 10" of image diagonal for each foot of viewing distance is recommended. So, if your eyes to screen distance is 12 feet, than a 120" diagonal would be my minimum recommendation.

The projector you have could seriously light up a 180" diagonal or larger screen in a dark room quite easily. But, weak contrast.

Yeah I've noticed the difference with contrast and blacks when I compare it to my Epson 6050 in the theater room. But it's great for bedroom use.

Someday I'll upgrade it but for streaming for my bedroom after work I'm happy with it I like the brightness due to my bedroom not being painted or teated for dark room treatments correctly. It puts out a good picture no matter what

For right now it works but someday I'll switch it out I'll probably wait till it craps out someday lol

I'm just going to be as polite as I can nobody is going to click on a link like that. That could very well be looked at as a way to hit you with a virus among other things.

I've looked at all 5 of your comments since you joined yesterday and they all are the same way with some kind of link you want people to click.

Either I'm talking to a bot. Or possibly someone going phishing
