Help w/Speaker Selection

I'm looking for some advice on bookshelf speaker selection. These will sit on the top shelf of my wall unit where space is restricted (6"H x 14"W x 10"D). I'm using an older Denon AVR-800 receiver @ 60W/channel to power these in a 18' x 12' room. I'm only using these for music (mainly rock) not home theater.

I've listened to PSB Image B4s and B&W M1s. The sound was clearly better than anything at Best Buy. The dealer also had Era D3s and Monitor R90s.

Prices started @ $240/pair for PSBs; the Era and Monitor speakers were slightly more. B&Ws were the most expensive @ $480/pair. Given the relatively similar price points, are these all fairly similar? Can anyone tell me why one may be better than the others for my purpose?

Thanks in advance for your help!

we can only voice personal opinions....since you have the opportunity to audion the speakers mentioned, all from good manufacturers, the choice is really yours.

The height restriction you noted requires just about any speaker to lay on it's side, so you are severely limiting the choices you have available. No other shelf with better height numbers, or the use of speakers on stands, etc. ???

The B&W speakers require quite a bit of power to really shine, your older Denon may not be up to the task with these speakers. Should do fine with the PSB units. I can't comments on the Era's and Monitors - no personal experience there.
