I have an Altec Lansing ada106 speaker system (one of the earliest all in 1 surround boxes) for my bedroom and it has 1 spdif (coax) input as well as a regular analog rca connection. Currently my cable box is connected to the analog input and my DVD player is connected to the spdif audio input. Since my cable box has a spdif output (I know it will not give an output for every channel, just the digital channels) I would like to hook it up to the speaker as well. Can I just buy a coax cable y-connector and hook up both spdif signals (DVD and cable box outputs) to the speaker? As long as one of them is off when the other is "playing" I don't think it would be a problem but I am not positive. Thanks in advance.
