Help - Rookie hook up TV/Sat Receiver and Audio Receiver

Please help me if you can.

I just bought a new Sony LCD project TV and want to make sure that I optimize my picture quality.

Currently all of my wairing runs through my Onkyo receiver, but I feel like that is not the best picture, but allows me to havea surround sound.

I am trying to connect an RCA DVR / Sony LCD TV / Onkyo Receiver / Onkyo DVD player.

The TV, receiver, and DVD are new so they should have all of the new ports, but the receiver is a few years old.

Can somebody tell me the best way to connect these components so that i can get optiomal video quality and still use surround sound?

Video has nothing to do with audio and surround sound. If you don't want to or can't connect the video through the receiver, simply connect straight to the TV.
